Trek Fee: A minimal trek fee of Nu. 100 per person is collected for trail maintenance and environment upkeep.

When is the best time to go?

Peak Season: The ideal months are autumn (October) and spring (late March to May). Monsoon Warning: Avoid July to September, as continuous rainfall triggers heavy mudslides, swells the streams, and makes wooden bridges dangerously slippery

What is the altitude, and how cold does it get?

Day 1 :

Drive Thimphu to Jakar (Bumthang)

Depart early from Thimphu. Drive through Dochu La, Wangduephodrang, and across Pele La.
Stay: Overnight at a hotel in Jakar.

Day 2 :

Drive Jakar to Lhuentse (Khoma Village)

Cross Thrumshing La pass. Drive past Mongar toward Lhuentse, stopping at the world's tallest Guru Nangsey Zilnon statue at Takila. Proceed to the roadhead near Khoma village.
Stay: Riverside campsite near Khoma.

Day 3 :

Trek Day 1 | Khoma to Tsangngo

Begin the steep uphill climb through dense subtropical forests into the Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary.

Day 4 :

Trek Day 2 | Tsangngo to Pema Yangdzong

Push upward through oak, bamboo, and rhododendron forests. The air begins to cool significantly.

Day 5 :

Trek Day 3 | Pema Yangdzong to Singye Dzong

Final, demanding ascent past alpine meadows into the sacred valley. Arrive at the mystical lion fortress (above 3,000 meters).

Day 6 :

Neykor Day 1 | Main Dzong & Guru Rinpoche’s Caves

Spend the day visiting the main Dzong and the surrounding meditation caves where Guru Rinpoche and Khandro Yeshe Tsogyal meditated.

Day 7 :

Neykor Day 2 | Hike to Terdha Latsho (Treasure Lake)

Strenuous day hike to the stunning, sacred alpine lake where treasure-revealers (Tertons) discovered hidden spiritual treasures.
Stay: Campsite or pilgrim guesthouse at Singye Dzong.

Day 08 :

Neykor Day 3 | Hike to Tsho Kar & Tsho Nag

Trek higher into the rocky alpine landscape to view the pristine White Lake (Tsho Kar) and Black Lake (Tsho Nag).
Stay: Campsite or pilgrim guesthouse at Singye Dzong.

Day 09 :

Trek Day 4 | Return Singye Dzong to Pema Yangdzong

Pack camp and begin the steep descent back down the mountainside.
Stay: Campsite at Pema Yangdzong.

Day 10 :

Trek Day 5 | Return Pema Yangdzong to Tsangngo

Continue retracing your steps downward through the wilderness.
Stay: Campsite at Tsangngo.

Day 11 :

Trek Day 6 | Return Tsangngo to Khoma Village

Final day of trekking. Arrive at the Khoma roadhead, famous for its hand-woven Kishuthara textiles.

Drive Khoma to Mongar

Enjoy a late morning start. Short drive from Lhuentse to Mongar town to rest and shower.

Day 13 :

Drive Mongar to Jakar (Bumthang)

Long drive back over the scenic Thrumshing La pass into the Bumthang valley.
Stay: Hotel in Jakar.

Day 14 :

Drive Jakar back to Thimphu
