Druk Wangyel Tshechu, also known as the Dochula Tshechu, is a one-day festival held at the Druk Wangyal Tshechu Ground on Dochula Pass. It is celebrated on 13 December every year.
The festival was established in 2011 by Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. It was instituted as a tribute to His Majesty the Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and to honor the victory of the Bhutanese armed forces over insurgents in 2003.
What makes this festival unique is that the mask dances are performed not by monks but by the Royal Bhutan Army. The Tshechu reflect a blend of cultural expression, military pride, and deep respect for Bhutanese tradition.
The Druk Wangyel Tshechu 2025 in Bhutan will be held on December 13, 2025.
